Grand View University recently issued the following announcement.
The Grand View football team takes on Peru State at home this weekend. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 1:00 pm.
Grand View is now 9-0 and currently ranked #4 in the country. Last week the Vikings defeated Graceland 70-0. After the win Coach Woodley had this to say, "Last week vs Graceland we challenged our guys to play up to the standard and expectation of this program and they did that and then some. We got out to a great start and kept the pedal down. We also got some guys in the game that have waited for an opportunity and they came in and we didn't miss a beat. We have some real quality depth at a lot of positions on this team and Saturday we showed that. It was a great team win and keeps our momentum heading in the right direction."
Look at Peru State who is currently 1-8, Coach Woodley had this to say, "This week vs Peru brings a challenge to both sides of the ball. Peru's offense is very similar to William Penns. It's Flexbone run. We have to play assignment defense. Traditionally we have always defended this style pretty well. However, there have been occasions where we haven't and it has been a long game. Peru got after us a couple of years ago because we didn't lock into our jobs. We have to try to keep them off schedule on 1st down and put them in positions to have to make the decision to pass the ball because that is not what they want to do, but I think their QB right now can throw and he proved that last week. Their defense really challenges you to throw the ball because at times they crowd the line of scrimmage and cover all the OL up, and they have some great athletes in the secondary. We will need to be ready to roll and make sure we get off to a great start and sustain it for 60 mins. Peru has been in a lot of ball games vs good teams and they are coming off of a win. They will have confidence. Should be a fun day to compete."
