Otis Anthony Bowden, 1-year old son of Nathan and Sue Bowden of Des Moines, passed away November 29, 2019, at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City.
A handsome boy, Otis had been hospitalized since his premature birth on November 27, 2018, at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines. In his short life he touched the hearts of so many people, in death, he was a donor to the Iowa Donor Network.
In addition to his parents, Otis is survived by two sisters, Lillian and Frances; grandparents Dan and Cathy Hughes of Davenport and Mark and Bobbi Bowden of Johnston; great grandparents Robert and Marilyn Wells of Des Moines; six cousins, Lois, Jackson, Xavier, Charlie, Olivia, and an unborn baby girl Elossais; aunts and uncles Tony Hughes, Bryan and Maggie Gripp, Bob and Katie Hughes, George and Meryl Elossais; and many additional family and friends.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 6, at First Baptist Church, Johnston, where the family will receive visitors beginning at 9: 30 a.m. Friday at the church. A lunch will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital or the Blank Children’s Hospital, Des Moines, IA. The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and the entire healthcare team at these hospitals for their compassionate and exceptional care of Otis.
